East Los Angeles Community Corporation continues to make progress on the Cielito Lindo Apartments, a new affordable housing complex near the Gold Line's Soto Station in Boyle Heights.

The $23-million development, located at the northeast corner of 1st and Soto Streets, will include 50 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, priced between $458 and $1,060 per month.  Plans also call for an 8,500-square-foot office for ELACC at the roof level, as well as 5,000 square feet of street-fronting commercial space.

Architecture firm Gonzalez Goodale designed the mixed-use complex, which features a modern look and features such as a cool roof and energy start rated appliances.

A second phase of the project, slated for an adjacent property along 1st Street, would create an additional 28 residential units.
