A vacant lot near the Blue Line's PCH Station Long Beach could yield a new affordable housing complex, per an agenda item from this week's meeting of the Long Beach Planning Commission.

The project, known as Vistas del Puerto, is a joint venture between Clifford Beers Housing and the Long Beach Community Investment Company.  Plans call for the construction of a five-story building that would feature 48 dwelling units with a 40-car garage and residential amenities.  The property would offer a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with unit sizes between 536 and 1,212 square feet.

Killefer Flammang Architects is designing the low-rise development, which would incorporate multiple landscaped courtyards and interior amenities such as a community room.

Construction of the project is contingent on the approval of a general plan amendment and an addendum to Long Beach's Midtown Specific Plan.
