North of the Sylmar Metrolink Station, non-profit developer Meta Housing Corporation is in the midst of construction on a mixed-use affordable housing complex.

Sylmar Court, located at 14920 Astoria Street, will provide a mixture of 101 subsidized apartments above approximately 3,500 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.  Plans call for a mixture of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, set aside for households making between 30% and 60% of the Los Angeles area median income.  Monthly rents will range between $467 and $1,295.

According to its official website, the five-story complex will also include a 3,000-square-foot community center, barbeque pits, a large courtyard and bicycle storage.

Other participants in the development include Western Community Housing, Y&M Architects and the Los Angeles Housing and Community Investment Departments.
