Another tower crane has come to the Sunset Strip, signaling the start of vertical construction for West Hollywood's Pendry Hotel & Residences.

Located at the former site of the House of Blues nightclub at Sunset Boulevard and Sunset Drive, the $240-million project calls for the construction of two mid-rise buildings featuring 149 hotel rooms, 40 condominiums and 25,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.  A seven-level underground parking garage would also stretch across the property, with space for a maximum of 400 vehicles.

Combined Properties and AECOM Capital are developing the project, which will be operated as the Pendry Hotel and Residences.  The Time hotel chain had previously been attached as operator.

EYRC Architects is designing the mixed-use complex, which adapts to a steep grade change across the property with stepped building heights that create terrace decks.

Completion of the project is expected in late 2019.
