Expo Line commuters who frequent Culver City Station may soon be in need of new parking accommodations, as work is expected to begin early next year for an ambitious mixed-use complex on an adjoining park-and-ride lot.

According to a notice sent out by Culver City, the 5.2-acre lot that abuts the station is expected to close "on or about" February 6, 2017, so that Lowe Enterprises may begin construction for the Ivy Station development.  The project, which is scheduled for completion in 2019, will consist of five-and-six-story buildings featuring 200 residential units, a 148-key hotel, 210,000 square feet of offices and over 36,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space.

The completed development will greet Metro passengers with a bike rental hub, green space and pedestrian paseos that allow cutthrough pedestrian traffic towards National, Washington and Venice Boulevards.

Ivy Station is being jointly developed with AECOM Capital, the investment arm of Los Angeles-based engineering and construction giant AECOM.

Design work is being handled by a team that includes Cuningham Group, EYRC Architects, Melendrez and Killefer Flammang Architects.

During the course of construction, alternative parking for Metro patrons will be offered at the nearby Ince Parking Garage in Downtown Culver City for $3 per day.  Another alternative is La Cienega/Jefferson Station, located one mile east, which also offers on-site parking.

At completion, Ivy Station will include approximatley 1,500 on-site parking spaces, including 300 for Metro passengers.

News of the impending parking lot closure was first reported by Culver City Crossroads.

Ivy Station will be the first in a series of large developments planned for properties surrounding Westside Expo Line stations, including Casden West L.A., Martin Expo Town Center, and the La Cienega Jefferson project.
