Earlier this year, New York real estate firm Waterbridge Capital revealed plans to revitalize the formerly grand Broadway Trade Center into an eclectic mixed-use complex inspired by Manhattan's Chelsea Market.  With work now underway on the collosal renovation project, a new set of images have emerged from architecture firm Omgivning which appear to depict the finished product.

Renderings portray the 1.1-million-square-foot edifice with prominent greenery, accent lighting and vertical blade signs.  The building's ground-level retail spaces, previously recessed along Broadway, would instead extend outwards to greet the sidewalk.  Other improvements depicted in the renderings include new seating and dining areas along 8th and Hill Streets.

The Broadway Trade Center's 110,000-square-foot rooftop would be activated with a wide array of uses, including a public park, a garden, two swimming pools and multiple food and beverage venues.  Renderings portray a sign atop the former department store which dubs the project "Eight Hundred One Broadway."

Structural alterations to the 107-year-old building include a seismic upgrade and the removal of approximately 57,000 square feet of floor space to create light wells and a courtyard.  Plans also call for the addition of new mezzanine and rooftop levels, increasing the building's peak height to 16 stories above grade.

When completed, 801 Broadway is expected to include approximately 500,000 square feet of office space, 200,000 square feet of stores and restaurants and a hotel with up to 200 guest rooms.  The Los Angeles Times reports that Waterbridge Capital is targeting high-end retailers for the project, as well as office tenants in the technology and fashion industries.
