The Long Beach Planning Commission has approved the Spark at Midtown, a proposed mixed-use affordable housing complex near the Blue Line.

The project, located at 1900-1940 Long Beach Boulevard, would consist of a five-story building featuring 95 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, priced for individuals and families earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income.  This includes 47 units reserved for persons experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness.

Plans call for over 12,000 square feet of neighborhood-serving retail space at the project's ground floor, in addition to a new YMCA office and various supportive services.

LINC Housing Corporation is developing the Spark, with gap financing by the Long Beach Community Investment Company.
