The concrete podium of Gardenhouse, a mixed-use condominium complex in Beverly Hills, is now wrapping up construction at 8600 Wilshire Boulevard.

The project, which is being developed by Palisades, will eventually consist of a three-to-five-story structure featuring 18 condominiums above street-level retail space.

MAD Architects is designing the mid-rise structure, which appears as a set of small houses atop a green wall facade.  Smaller townhomes are being built at the south side of the property, providing a transition to the scale of the adjacent residential neighborhood.

Completion is on pace to occur in 2018.

City Looks to Update Land Use and Transportation Along Rail-to-River Corridor

A freight railway that cuts through South L.A. is set for rebirth as an active transportion corridor.

In 2012, Metro began exploring the possibility of transforming a segment of a former freight rail right-of-way that cuts through the heart of South Los Angeles into an active transportation project.  The project, now known as the Rail-to-River corridor, would convert the Harbor Subdivision - which runs east-to-west along Florence and Slauson Avenues - for use by pedestrians and cyclists.

To capitalize on this investment, the Cit
