Last month, the City of Long Beach began work on the remodel of Harvey Milk Park, a pocket green space in the City's Downtown area.

The existing 500-square-foot space, located on 3rd Street at the terminus of the Promenade, was described by Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia as " an important gathering space [to] honor so many LBGTQ leaders in our city."

Proposed improvements will include new landscape and hardscape, an even stage, an honor wall for local LGBTQ+ leaders, a mural honoring Harvey Milk, charging stations, shade structures, and outdoor seating.

The renovation of the park, which is named for the slain San Francisco Supervisor and civil rights leader Harvey Milk, is scheduled for completion in May 2018.
