Construction is underway for a pair of small apartment buildings in the West Adams neighborhood.

At 5135 W. Adams Boulevard, a three-story structure featuring 10 dwelling units above ground-floor retail and a basement parking level

Four blocks west at 5263 W. Adams Boulevard, a slightly larger three-story edifice is also underway featuring 14 apartments atop 2,400 square feet of street-level commercial space and a partially subterranean garage.

Permit records from the Department of Building and Safety indicate architecture firm Shubin + Donaldson is designing both projects.

West Adams has recently seen a surge of infill developments, including a six-unit affordable housing development at 4801 Adams and a three-story office building at 5245 Adams.  Larger residential-retail projects are also planned at 5109 and 5163 Adams, and nonprofit developer Abode Communities has proposed two buildings east toward Crenshaw Boulevard.
