In Koreatown, a pair of dated retail complexes at the corner of Olympic Boulevard and Catalina Street have made way for new mixed-use developments.

M Apartments + M Plaza

At the northeast corner of the intersection, construction is underway for the M Apartments and M Plaza.  The project fronts Olympic Boulevard with at three-story structure featuring 35,000 square feet of retail space, outdoor seating and underground parking for 100 vehicles.  Immediately north along Catalina, construction is also underway for a related five-story building that will feature 14 apartments and two levels of basement parking.

Architecture firm Grace Partnership is designing both buildings.

Manhee Manor

Across the street, developer Manhee Properties has completed vertical construction at the low-rise Manhee Manor project.

The five-story building, designed by Samwon Design Inc., will contain 70 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, as well as 5,000 square feet of ground-level commercial space and parking for 115 vehicles.

Completion is expected in 2018.
