Commune Hotels & Resorts, a San Franciso-based lifestyle hotel management company, has announced the upcoming construction of two new hotels in Hollywood as part of its continued national expansion.

A half-acre property at 1523 Wilcox Avenue will birth the Thompson Hollywood, a 10-story structure featuring 200 guest rooms with views of the Hollywood sign and Downtown Los Angeles.  Amenities in the mid-rise tower, designed by the New York-based Rockwell Group, would include multiple food and beverage venues.  The building's penthouse level would offer an outdoor pool deck, supplemented by a restaurant and a fitness center.

The other project, known as tommie Hollywood, would be located south of the intersection of Cahuenga and Sunset Boulevard.  The hotel would be the third location for the boutique tommie brand, and its first located outside of New York City.

Both hotels are expected to break ground before the end of 2015, with completion scheduled for 2017.

The City of Los Angeles Isn’t Creating As Much Housing As It Used To. Why?

"Starting two years ago, things started to change in the City. A series of policies were enacted that have made it much more difficult to create housing...."

If every jurisdiction in California addressed housing the way the City of Los Angeles has over the past few decades, the state would have nothing close to the crisis we have today.

In Los Angeles, planning case timelines are some of the fastest in the state. Unlike other jurisdictions, the City has honored state laws that mandate cases that conform to zoning be approved. Historically, fees have been low. The processing of permits and inspections are better than any jurisdiction I have worked in during my career.
