In 2017, non-profit service provider PATH submitted an application to the City of Los Angeles to redevelop a homeless shelter in Hollywood as a larger permanent supportive housing complex.  Next week, the project faces an appeal to the L.A. City Planning Commission seeking to overturn the project's approvals.

The PATH Villas Hollywood, located at 5627 W. Fernwood Avenue, calls for the construction of a six-story building that would feature 59 units of permanent supportive housing and one manager's unit above parking for 14 vehicles.

The development application relied on the Transit Oriented Communities Affordable Housing Incentive Program to qualify for an increase in allowable density, as well as relief from certain zoning provisions.

The appeal, filed by an individual named Eden Taylor, argues that the PATH Villas development is incompatible with its surroundings requires further environmental studies.  A staff report rejects these arguments, and recommends that the Commission deny the appeal.

South down the Hollywood Freeway, PATH is currently in the midst of a larger affordable housing development adjacent to its offices in Rampart Village.
