The Los Angeles Housing and Community Investment Department has issued a notice of intent to request the release of Section 8 Project-Based Voucher funds for the construction of a permanent supportive housing development in the northeast San Fernando Valley

The proposed Summit View Apartments, slated for a City-owned site at 11681 Foothill Boulevard, would consist of a three-to-four-story building featuring 49 studio and one-bedroom apartments, in addition to accommodations for supportive services.  Plans also call for a fitness center, a laundry room, off-street parking for 17 vehicles, and a community garden on an abutting hillside with a walking trail.

L.A. Family Housing is developing the project, which will cater to very low income homeless and chronically homeless persons.  An HCID staff report describes the design as a "California Ranch styled urban project."

The project is budgeted at approximately $24.3 million, including $8.5 million in Measure HHH funding.  Rents will be made affordable to persons making up to 50 percent of the area median income.

HCID is expected to submit its request to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on or about May 18.
