Venice Community Housing Corporation has filed plans to construct new permanent supportive housing near the corner of Lincoln Boulevard and Rose Avenue in Venice.

The approximately 13,000-square-foot project site, located at 718-722 E. Rose Avenue, currently serves as VCHC's headquarters.  According to a case filing with the Los Angeles Department of City Planning, the non-profit developer intends to raze the existing one-story buildings and playground to make way for a 21,000-square-foot building featuring 35 units of affordable housing catering to persons with special needs.

Requested entitlements include off-menu density bonus incentives, such as a height increase of 20 feet beyond the 35-foot maximum allowed by the Venice Coastal Specific Plan.

The project will eventually be considered at the Los Angeles City Planning Commission.

VCHC recently completed a 21-unit affordable apartment complex in Del Rey.
