Attention all parking lot owners, parking management companies, real estate developers, and building owners! We have two words for you: automated parking. If you are looking for a way to maximize the number of parking spaces and maximize density for your next development or parking garage, we have the solution.

We are The Automated Parking Solution, and we provide developers--both private and public-- with an innovative and state-of-the-art approach to fully automated parking. If you haven't heard about automated parking yet, then welcome to a new realm of possibilities; physical options that will enable developers to stretch the limits of their projects.

It’s What’s On The Inside That Matters

Remember when your parents told you "it’s what is on the inside that matters"? Well, that definitely applies here. For one, our automated garages are stand alone steel structures, which requires less materials to build. Instead of needlessly pouring concrete ramps and floor separations that take up so much room, the structure consists of steel beams that are less costly and easier to assemble. Also, the materials are ASTM approved and manufactured by LADBS certified fabricators.

Our automated parking structures allow for viable, above-grade parking due to their lower height requirements, making them a cost-effective solution for tricky sites. Additionally, everything is more compact, so you can fit nearly twice as many cars in the same amount of space as in a conventional parking structure. In fact, for every two levels of a conventional parking structure, we can build three in even less air space.

Better yet, automated parking is safer and more environmentally friendly when compared to conventional parking structures. Not only does the system require less materials to build, it also helps to reduce greenhouse gases by eliminating the need for drivers to circle around, looking for a parking space. Also, being that it is an enclosed space with features such as motion sensors and security cameras, it is a much safer option. For more information, check out our article on the system’s safety features here.

Finally, you save time. Just drop your car off when you park and “call” the car on your way to the garage, so that your car is ready for you upon your arrival.

What are my options?

There are many types of systems to choose from, and it can become confusing. Here is what we recommend:

  1. Flat bidirectional: this type of system is better for projects where the automated parking system is paired with a building. You can see this type of system in action here.

  2. Puzzle or PSH System: This type of system is best for stand alone parking lots because it is easier to maintain and less expensive, but with a slightly longer retrieval guarantee and fewer options than the flat bi-directional system. Picture a Rubix Cube you may have played with as a child, but with motorized pallets that are isolated, and a system that offers up to five layers of a single slide.

Getting Down to Business

To paint a clearer picture of the timeline, cost, and value of this type of system, we are going to discuss the details of a sample project, which would be a small lot typical of Los Angeles.

Say a parking lot owner comes to us with a small lot that is 5,000 square feet and 40 feet wide with 13 parking spaces. Being that it is a small lot, the owner is not able to build up because the lot is not wide enough to accommodate a vehicle's turning radius.

For this particular project, we would be able to build a five-level puzzle system with 75 parking stalls, nearly six times the original amount of parking spaces. Just imagine a six-fold increase in parking density! Also, with single lots, automated parking is the only option available to maximize density in new developments.

Imagine having your density dictate your parking, instead of the sad story of development in ancient times, circa 2015, where parking dictated the density.

So there you have it. Whether you are a parking lot owner, parking management company, real estate developer, or building owner, automated parking is a great alternative to traditional parking garages, and sometimes the only option. Not only does it save you money, but also maximizes the number of parking spots you can build in the same amount of space as a conventional parking structure would allow. Finally, remember: Maximize your density. Maximize your profits.
