In Pico-Union, San Diego-based real estate firm Wakeland Housing & Development Corporation completed work last year on The Quincy, a new development catering to formerly unhoused seniors.
The project, located at 2652-2662 Pico Boulevard, replaced a two-story commercial building with a new four-story edifice which features 54 apartments. That total includes 53 permanent supportive housing units, reserved for senior households earning no more than 50 percent of the area median income level, as well as one market-rate manager's unit.

FSY Architects designed The Quincy, which closely resembles the contemporary low-rise building depicted in elevation plans.
Wakeland built the apartment complex using $16.8 million in tax-exempt bonds, accounting for roughly half of an estimated $33.6-million construction budget prior to the start of work on the project.
