West Angeles Community Development Corporation, the economic development arm of the West Angeles Church, is planning a senior affordable housing complex just two blocks from a future Crenshaw Line Station.

According to a case filing with the Department of City Planning, the South L.A. nonprofit intends to construct a 56-foot tall building at 5414 S. Crenshaw Boulevard, containing a total of 70 apartments.  The project will include 40 low income units and 29 very low income units, as well as a market rate manager's unit.

The proposed development would replace a small commercial building near the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and 54th Street, just two blocks north of the upcoming Crenshaw/Slauson Station in Park Mesa Heights, which is scheduled to open in 2019.

Other Crenshaw Line developments include market rate projects planned near Martin Luther King Jr. and Exposition Boulevards.
