Site preparation is underway for a new multifamily residential development in the unincorporated community of West Athens.

The project site, currently vacant, is located at the northwest corner of 120th Street and Normandie Avenue, just south of the 105 freeway trench.  A grading permit with the L.A. County Department of public works indicates that the development will consist of 56 total units.

Storm Properties, a Torrance-based development firm, is building an array of two-story houses across the nearly 7.8-acre property, with floor plans ranging between 1,650 and 1,900 square feet.  The gated community, known as Vista Pointe, will feature a public park.

Los Angeles-based KB Home is the developer of the 7.8-acre property.

The property sits a short distance east of Olive Glen, another development of townhouse-style residences by Williams Homes.

Los Angeles County's Department of Regional Planning is in the midst of creating a new transit-oriented specific plan for the West Athens community.
