According to documents published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning (LADCP), Santa Clarita-based developer Williams Homes is planning to build a new small lot subdivision in Highland Park.

The proposed development, dubbed the Highland Park Townhomes, would rise from a vacant .9-acre property at 5101-5123 East Echo Street.  Plans call for the construction of 24 single-family residences within a series of six townhouse style structures.  Each residential unit would include four bedrooms, as well as a two-car parking garage and a rooftop amenity deck.

The project is being designed by William Hezmalhalch Architects, a California-based firm whose portfolio includes numerous residential developments in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.  Elevation plans on file with LADCP portray the townhomes in the Spanish Colonial Revival style.

Construction of the Highland Park Townhomes is anticipated to last approximately 10 months, with completion scheduled by 2017.  Williams Homes will require multiple discretionary approvals from the City of Los Angeles prior to breaking ground on the project, including a zone change and certificates of compliance with both the Avenue 57 TOD neighborhood plan and the Highland Park Garvanza Historic Preservation Overlay Zone.
