Yesterday, plans were filed with the City of Los Angeles to redevelop the large property at 5420 W. Sunset Boulevard with a mixed-use project featuring 735 apartments, nearly 96,000 square feet of commercial uses and parking for over 1,400 vehicles. The proposed building would rise to a maximum height of 75 feet, and would not require a general plan amendment or zone change.
The 6.65-acre project site is listed of American Commercial Equities, a Malibu-based real estate firm that specializes in retail centers and mixed-use properties.
Located at the prominent intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Western Avenue, the project is the third residential-retail development within a one-block radius of the Target construction site, which has yet to be completed due to ongoing litigation.
Immediately south of 5420 Sunset, LaTerra Development broke ground last year on a similar six-story building at the corner of Western and Fernwood Avenue.
On the opposite side of the intersection, Reliable Properties is planning another podium-type complex known as SunWest.
