Nearly one year after we last dropped by, West Hollywood's flaship Marriott Edition is now well above ground on the Sunset Strip.

The project, a joint venture between Marriott International, the Witkoff Group and New Valley, is located on a 1.37-acre property at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Doheny Drive.  Plans call for a total of 148 guest rooms, in addition to 20 condominiums and commercial space.

The hotel is broken into two mid-rise structures, both of which are designed by John Paswon and Ian Schrager.  A rectangular 13-story structure will front the Sunset Boulevard side of the property, while a nine-story edifice at the back of the property will respond to the sloping property with a series of cascading garden terraces.

Previous reports point to a completion date in the second half of 2018, after which point rooms will rent between $400 and $500 per night.
