In the Sawtelle district, McCarthy Cook and Northwood Investors have started work on an expansion of the 1980s Trident Center office complex.

The two 10-story buildings, located at 11355-11377 W. Olympic Boulevard, originally comprised roughly 300,000 square feet of offices in addition to an attached parking garage and amenity deck.  Plans approved by the City of Los Angeles will allow for the addition of 115,000 square feet of new offices and ground-floor offices and retail space.

The Gensler-designed project, which is being rebranded as Lumen West L.A., will add new offices by bridging between the two mid-rise towers.  Additionally, a new glass exterior will be added to the property's exterior.

An existing amenity deck, located above the property's nearly 2,000-car parking garage, will be improved into a tenant recreation space including food venues and sports facilities.

A representative of the development team stated last year that completion of the modernization project is anticipated in 2022.

Other office projects planned along the Olympic corridor include a nine-story, 128,000-square-foot complex slated to replace a former Sports Chalet store and an eight-story, 135,000-square-foot structure at Sawtelle Boulevard.

Construction also began earlier this year for the West Edge, a mixed-use complex which will include 200,000 square feet of offices in addition to multifamily housing and retail space.
