This week, the Anaheim Planning Commission will consider a proposal to construct an affordable housing complex just west of the Santa Ana Freeway.

The project, which comes from Jamboree Housing Corporation, would rise from a vacant 2.83-acre property at the corner of Manchester and Orangewood Avenues.  Plans call for the construction of a four-story edifice which would contain 102 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, wrapping around a three-story, 213-car parking structure.  Jamboree Housing would price the apartments for a mix of extremely low-, very low-, and low-income households.

Architecture Design Collaborative is designing the Manchester/Orangewood development, which would include amenities such as community rooms, after-school programs, a community garden, a childcare center, and outdoor recreation areas.

Renderings depict a contemporary low-rise structure, clad with materials such as stone veneer and mesh fabric.

A staff report to the Planning Commission recommends that the Manchester/Orangewood development should be approved with requested density bonus incentives, as it is compatible with the City of Anaheim's policies on affordable housing.
