Stockdale Capital Partners is planning a new medical office tower near the intersection of Wilshire and San Vicente Boulevards in Beverly Grove, the company announced today.

The 12-story building, slated to replace a Big 5 Sporting Goods store at 656 S. San Vicente Boulevard, would feature approximately 145,000 square feet of offices atop 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and four levels of above-grade parking.

“This leading medical office project will fill a pivotal role in major health system’s abilities to service their patient base in a more convenient, accessible setting in West L.A.” said Stockdale VP of Asset Management, Andrew Saba in a news release. “Our focus is on a best-in-class design, specifically concentrated on a patient experience that will best service the local community.”

ZGF Architects is designing the contemporary mid-rise building, which would have a curved facade that mirrors the countours of the wedge-shaped development site.  Renderings show a glass exterior with numerous terrace decks and setbacks.

The project - billed as the first ground-up medical office facility in Beverly Grove in nearly two decades - is on pace to open in 2022, reports the L.A. Business Journal.

Though Stockdale's project may come first, another developer is hot on their heels.  West Hollywood-based Faring is seeking entitlements for the construction of a 10-story, 271,000-square-foot "cancer center" across the street from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Other notable projects planned along San Vicente Boulevard include a 16-story apartment tower by developer Rick Caruso and a terraced residential building designed by Office Untitled.
