Shapell Liberty Investment Properties has broken ground on the Vineyards at Porter Ranch, a $150-million shopping, entertainment and lifestyle center in the San Fernando Valley.

Located in the Porter Ranch master-planned community, the project will feature 345,000 square feet of open-air space lined with restaurants, shops, a movie theater, a Whole Foods Market, a Kaiser-Permanente medical office building, a hotel and a 266-unit apartment complex.  The joint venture between Shapell and Liberty Building Co. will also include a main street, a central green area and a 4,000-square-foot community meeting room.

The Vineyards will the north and south sides of Rinaldi street at the western intersection of Porter Ranch Drive.  Completion of the shopping center is expected by late 2018, with future phases such as the hotel and apartment building anticipated by 2020.

Data Center Planned for Parking Lot Near Union Station Terminal Annex

A large parking lot next door to the Union Station Terminal Annex Building is slated for development as a data center. CoreSite Realty Corp., a Denver-based owner and operator of data centers across the country, is behind the proposed development, which would raze the parking lot at 900 N. Alameda Street for the construction of a four-story, 93-foot-tall data center with nearly 180,000 square feet of floor area.
