A large property near Metro's Vermont/Beverly subway station could be redeveloped with permanent supportive housing, according to an entitlement application submitted yesterday to the City of Los Angeles.

The proposed development - slated for a 2.59-acre site fronting Oakwood, Madison, and Juanita Avenues - calls for razing parking areas and three existing buildings to make way for the construction of a 454-unit apartment complex.  Outside of five manager units, the housing would be priced at the low-, very low-, and extremely low-income levels.

The project will require a zone change and a general plan amendment, among other discretionary approvals, due to the property's industrial zoning.

City records list the project applicant as Flexible PSH Solutions, Inc.  The company has previously sought funding for a supportive housing development at the same property called Enlightenment Plaza.

The project is being designed by KFA Architecture.

Just east across Madison Avenue, non-profit developer and service provider PATH is now building a similar project featuring temporary and permanent homeless housing.

West toward the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Beverly Boulevard, a former auto dealership is slated to be replaced by a mixed-use complex featuring 490 apartments and street-fronting retail.
