A nondescript commercial building in Van Nuys could make way for permanent supportive housing, according to plans filed yesterday with the City of Los Angeles.
The project, slated for a property at 16015 W. Sherman Way, calls for the construction of a four-story, approximately 24,500-square-foot building containing 46 apartments - 45 of which would be subsidized affordable housing. No parking is planned for the supportive units.
Requested entitlements for the proposed development include density bonus incentives. The project would be granted streamlined permitting via the state legislation AB 2162.
City records list the project's developer as an entity affiliated with Daylight Community Development. According to the company's website, the project is called Oatsie's Place, and is being developed in partnership with Decro Corporation and the Downtown Women's Center. The apartments will serve women experiencing homelessness and survivors of domestic violence.
