Just four months after we last stopped by, construction has topped out at the On Butler development just west of Sawtelle Boulevard.

The six-story building, located at the northeast corner of Olympic Boulevard and Butler Avenue, is being developed by Hypericum Companies.  Plans call for 77 rental apartments - including seven priced for very low-income households - above 6,500 square feet of ground-floor retail and a 142-car parking garage.

Architect Farhad Ashofteh designed the contemporary podium-type building, which consists of five levels of wood-frame construction above a concrete base.  Plans call for an exterior of stucco and trespa panels, with a roof line that tapers toward an adjacent block of condominiums along the northern property line.

Construction of On Butler began nearly two years ago.

One block west, a 1980s office complex is slated for a $300-million makeover and expansion.

A half-mile west, work recently began for Martin Expo Town Center, a mixed-use complex featuring offices, housing, and ground-floor retail space.
