Aerial images captured by photographer Hunter Kerhart showcase the construction of 801 S. Olive Street, a new residential tower in Downtown Los Angeles.

The 33-story building from San Franciso-based real estate firm Carmel Partners will feature 363 residential units and 10,000 square feet of ground-level commercial space when completed in 2017.

According to the website of Solomon Cordwell Buenz, the project's design architect, plans call for two amenity decks located on the fifth and roof levels of the building.  The fifth-floor deck, which will sit atop the building's parking garage, includes a dog run, a fitness center and a swimming pool.  The rooftop deck, seen in a rendering below, will feature a solarium with panoramic views of the Los Angeles basin.

The tower is located along a booming stretch of Olive Street that has seen a half-dozen residential buildings replace surface parking lots during the past two years.  To the north, work is nearing completion on the 8th & Grand development, which features 700 luxury apartments and a Whole Foods Market.  To the east, site preparation is underway for a 50-story tower from the Vancouver-based Onni Group.

In Inglewood, a local developer has filed plans to construct townhomes just west of La Brea Avenue. The proposed development, slated for an L-shaped property at 113-133 W. Plymouth Street, would replace 11 existing single-family residences with 20 three-story townhomes above a basement parking garage.
