Just south of the 10 Freeway in Jefferson Park, a Los Angeles-based real estate investment firm is transforming a former hospital into a live/work housing complex.

The five-story building, located at 2231 S. Western Avenue, is being converted by CIM Group into 60 studio and two-bedroom apartments.  Plans also call for activating a second-level rooftop as restaurant space.

Parking for 40 vehicles is to be provided in an adjacent surface lot.

David Lawrence Gray Architects is designing the project, which would cap the larger building with a tenant amenity deck.

Construction began in April 2018.

Just north of CIM Group's development, plans were approved last year to redevelop an auto repair shop with a mixed-use hotel project.

A few blocks south, a Best Western Hotel is slated to rise from a vacant site on Western Avenue.
