The wooden frame of the Arroyo, a new affordable housing complex, is now rising just steps from the Expo Line in Downtown Santa Monica.

The five-story building, located at 1626 Lincoln Boulevard, will be owned and operated by the nonprofit Community Corp. of Santa Monica.  Plans call for 64 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, priced for households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income.

Per a project fact sheet, Community Corp. intends to provide on-site services for residents, including after-school tutoring, health and wellness classes and computer skills training.

Koning Eizenberg Architects is designing the low-rise building, which will incorporate open space amenities such as a basketball hoop and a picnic area.

The project is funded by the developers of 500 Broadway, a nearby market-rate development.
