A Koreatown gas station could give way for a mixed-use building featuring residential units and commercial space, per a filing yesterday with the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The property, located at the southwest corner of 6th Street and Manhattan Place, is slated for the construction of a six-story edifice that would feature 44 single and studio apartments above ground-floor retail space.

Applicants In Seo and Hyun Sook Whang have requested density bonus incentives in exchange for setting aside six of the proposed units as very low income housing.

The project site is located one block northwest of the current Wilshire/Western terminus of Metro's Purple Line subway.
