A short distance north of Metro's Hollywood/Western Station, the wood-and-concrete frame of a mixed-use development is taking shape.

The project, located at 1745 N. Western Avenue, consists of a five-story building that will feature 26 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above approximately 1,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space.  Developer Joseph Samuel is replacing a three-story nursing home, but retained the previous building's parking garage - which offers accommodations for up to 41 vehicles.

Architect Edwin Mohabir designed the low-rise structure, which will feature open space amenities including a central courtyard and a recreation room.

Completion of 1745 Western is on pace to occur in 2019.

Atlanta-based developer Wood Partner recently wrapped up construction of a larger mixed-use project a short walk south at 5550 Hollywood Boulevard.
