Located at 5100 Wilshire Boulevard, the seven-story edifice features 138 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments - as well as loft and penthouse units - with approximately 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and 299 parking spaces. The building includes several common amenities, including a clubhouse, a swimming pool and spa, and three roof decks.
Designed by Plus Architects and built by TB Pennick & Sons, the Mansfield's Art Deco exterior includes matinee-inspired awnings and central marquee that spans the building's full height. The architecture was inspired by that of the Four-Star Theatre, the previous occupant of the project site, which is memorialized in a mural in the apartment building's central breezeway.
A statement released by the Sycamore Square Neighborhood Association lauds the building's architecture, citing its compatibility with nearby 1920 and 1930s residential structures.
A portion of the Mansfield's ground-floor retail space has already been leased by the Automobile Club of America, which is already occupying its 6,756-square-foot space. Additional commercial tenants have not been announced.
A grand opening for the building is scheduled for April 7.
Korda Group, founded in Los Angeles in the 1950s, next expects to break ground on a 151-unit apartment building near Dodger Stadium in Fall 2019.
