The project - which is being developed by property owner Kevin Chen in partnership with China Building Technique Group Co. - calls for the construction of a 12-story building featuring 129 condominiums and a 113-room hotel on its upper levels, with art galleries, shops, and restaurants located on its lower floors. The mid-rise structure would rise from a site bounded by 5th, Seaton, and Colyton Streets, replacing a two-story commercial building.
The most substantial change to the project since the release of its draft environmental study in early 2019 is the subtraction of two subterranean garage levels, reducing the amount of proposed parking from 513 spaces to 304 spaces.
A revised design from Togawa Smith Martin calls for the building to stand 164 feet in height, slightly taller than the 148-foot structure originally proposed. Plans still call for an exterior of glass - embedded with murals - and a base clad with brick veneer.
Construction is expected to occur over approximately 30 months. A groundbreaking date has not been set.
