LAFC has announced the completion of the $350-million Banc of California Stadium in Exposition Park, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony today that included local elected officials and representatives of Major League Soccer.

The $350-million venue, located at 3939 S. Figueroa Street, will offer seating for up to 22,000 when it makes it debut on April 29.  It is billed as Los Angeles' first open-air venue to be constructed since Dodger Stadium in 1962.

Built at the former site of the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, the new stadium also includes a public plaza, restaurants, a conference and events center, and a LAFC retail store.

The stadium will serve a prominent role in the 2028 Summer Olympics, along with its next-door neighbor, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which is in the midst of its own $270-million renovation.

Described as "an intimate European-style" setting for the close proximity between players and fans, was designed by Gensler with landscape work by Studio MLA.

Banc of California Stadium is one of most notable additions to Exposition Park in recent years, and will be followed by the $1-billion Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which is now under construction on Vermont Avenue.
