A small apartment building in Echo Park could be replaced with a hotel, according to a filing yesterday with the City of Los Angeles.

The property, located at 1274 W. Sunset Boulevard, is currently improved with a two-story, three-unit structure and a small parking lot.

Although the project's case filing with the Department of City Planning does not provide specifics on the proposal, it does link to the development to Jingbo Lou - the local architect and developer behind the transformation of the Hotel Normandie.  Renderings from the J Lou Architects website show a contemporary four-story building called Sunset Terrace, a six-unit bed-and-breakfast that would also feature a restaurant, gym, and rooftop deck.

The project site, located just north of Downtown Los Angeles, finds itself between a handful of ongoing and proposed developments.  Most notably, a towering mixed-use development was recently announced at the former headquarters of the Metropolitan Water District at 1111 Sunset Boulevard.
