In Carson, construction is in the home stretch at the massive Union South Bay apartment complex.

The project, a joint venture between Faring and Wolff Company, is located at the northwest corner of Carson Street and Avalon Boulevard.  The five-story development consists of 357 residential units and approximately 30,700 square feet of ground-floor retail space, wrapping a central parking garage.

Steinberg Hart is designing the project, which also includes work from Tate Snyder Kimsey and Hongjoo Kim Landscape Architects.  The podium-type building greets the intersection of Carson and Avalon with a 10,000 square foot plaza.  Other on-site amenities for use by residents include a courtyard, a fitness center, and a rooftop deck.

A leasing website for the property lists rents for the studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments as ranging from $1,799 to $4,165 per month.

Union South Bay is the largest mixed-use housing complex now in development in Carson, but could soon be dwarfed by a neighboring development to the north, where Texas-based real estate firm JPI has proposed more than 1,000 apartments across 20 acres of land.

West Hollywood-based Faring's other projects include a string of office, residential, and hotel developments in its hometown.

Wolff Company, which is based out of Arizona, has also development new housing in Torrance and Downtown Los Angeles.
