A red tower crane has appeared above Downtown Culver City, the most visible signs of progress on a mixed-use office complex now being built by Clarett West Development and DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners

The development, located at the northeast corner of Washington Boulevard and Delmas Terrace, is highlighted by three- and four-story structures containing 60,000 square feet of offices for rent above 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.  Parking for 223 vehicles will be located in a basement garage.

Abramson Architects is designing the complex, which is called Brick and Machine.  The project's name is derived from its building materials, which includes brick facade and metal screens.

Both low-rise structures will wrap around a central landscaped courtyard, providing an amenity space for residents.  Additional open space would be provided in a rooftop deck.

Construction of Brick and Machine, which began in January, is expected to occur over approximately 20 months.

The project is one of a handful of new office developments in Downtown Culver City, the largest of which is Amazon's new base of operations at the Culver Studios.

Abramson Architects is designing another project now under construction on Washington Boulevard, which is slated to become the new headquarters of mobile game maker Scopely.
