Developer Geoff Palmer is halfway through construction of his two-building Broadway Palace development, which is adding hundreds of residential units across from the popular Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.

The first phase of the development, which is expected to open before the end of the year, consists of a six-story building 240 apartments, 15,900 square feet of retail space and live-work units facing Main Street.  It sits immediately north of the historic Los Angeles Railway building, which is poised for for a conversion into the first Los Angeles Hoxton Hotel.

North across Olympic Boulevard, construction is in full swing for the second phase of the project, which will provide 439 apartments and slighty over 20,000 square feet of commercial space when completed in 2017.  Due to stipulations within the Broadway Design Guide, the building will feature a 10-story concrete frame towards the Ace Hotel and a shorter six-story wood frame along Main Street.

Palmer will follow Broadway Palace by converting an adjacent building, the original quarters of the Southern California Gas Company, into live-work lofts.  Developer Barry Shy is already in the midst of a similar adaptive reuse project across the street.

Multifamily residential development located on the outskirts of Westwood and Century City.

A new multifamily residential development is now rising on the outskirts of Westwood and Century City.  The project, located at 10534 W. Santa Monica Boulevard, consists of a five-story building that will feature 37 apartments - including three very-low-income units - above three levels of basement parking for 45 vehicles.
