The Aliso, a $215-million mixed-use development in the Arts District, continues to make progress next to SCI-Arc. 

Located at 950 E. 3rd Street, the joint venture between Fairfield Residential and Legendary Development consists of five- and six-story structures that will feature 472 apartments and 22,000 square feet of ground-level commercial space.  Plans also call for a number of open space amenities across the six-acre property, including a linear green space along the eastern side of the six-acre property. 

Kava Massih Architects is designing the project, which is scheduled for partial completion this year.

Legendary Development is also behind plans for a mid-rise office tower next-door to the A + D Museum, which is located nearby at 4th and Hewitt Streets.

Earlier this month, the Los Angeles City Council approved $31 million in funding for affordable housing in Westlake and near USC.
