Kor Group is now one year into construction at the new Santa Monica Proper Hotel at 710 Wilshire Boulevard.

The project, which includes ground-up construction and the restoration of a 1928 Spanish Colonial Revival building, will feature 271 guest rooms, 7,000 square feet of street-fronting commercial space, event space, a swimming pool and a rooftop lounge.

Howard Laks Architects is designing the new construction, which will take the form of five-story edifice with an amorphous footprint wrapping around the historic building.

Completion of the project is expected in either late 2018 or early 2019.

The Santa Monica Proper is one of two under development in the Los Angeles area.  The other, now under construction at the former YMCA Building at 11th and Broadway in Downtown, will contain 148 guest rooms.
