The project, which comes from developer GPI Companies, will rise from a .634-acre site at 9001 Santa Monica Boulevard. Plans call for the construction of a five-story building featuring 46 apartments - including eight affordable units - above ground-floor restaurant space and two levels of subterranean parking.
“We are excited to begin construction on this unique residential project, creating a centrally located, high-end residential development with best-in-class amenities for future tenants to call home,” said Jamie Ross, Director of Development at GPI Companies in a prepared statement. “West Hollywood is growing rapidly and transforming with several exciting new projects. 9001 Santa Monica will anchor this stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard as one of the westside’s go-to destinations.”
Steinberg Hart and WORKPLAYS Studio are designing the project, which is depicted in renderings as a contemporary low-rise structures. Plans call for amenity spaces such as a fitness center, a pool deck, and landscaped outdoor terraces.
Construction is expected to occur over approximately 20 months, according to a notice posted to the project site. Build Group, LLC, 9001 Santa Monica's general contractor, expects to complet work in 2021.
GPI Companies previously developed a mixed-use project at the former site of Laurel Plaza in North Hollywood, and is now in the process of transforming a former department store at the Westside Pavilion shopping mall into an office complex. Future projects include a proposal to redevelop the current home of Amoeba Music in Hollywood with a 26-story apartment tower.
The 9001 Santa Monica site is located just west of the intersection of Santa Monica and Robertson Boulevards, where West Hollywood-based Faring is planning a mixed-use hotel complex.
