Five months after breaking ground in Playa Vista, the addition of a tower crane is the most visible sign yet of progress at WE3 at Water's Edge, a new office building from Rockwood Capital.

The $80-million project, located at the northeast corner of Lincoln and Jefferson boulevards, will consist of a six-story building featuring 160,000 square feet of occupiable space, accompanied by a four-level parking garage with space for 610 vehicles.

SPF:architects is designing WE3, which will feature a perforated glass facade that filters natural light to spread evenly across its surface area.  The structure's mass is split into two separate areas, divided by a sky garden.

WE3 will be the third building at the Water's Edge campus, which is known as the local offices of Electronic Arts.  Completion of the new building is expected in April 2020.

Rockwood Capital purchased the development site and the surrounding 6.5-acre property from DivcoWest and Maguire Partners, the original developer of Water's Edge.  Rockwood also owns the nearby Playa Jefferson campus, which recently saw a 55,000-square-foot expansion of its own.
