Another crane has risen high in Hollywood, with vertical construction now beginning for Hudson Pacific Properties' Epic development across the street from Sunset Bronson Studios.

The project, located at 5901 Sunset Boulevard, will consist of a 13-story building featuring 275,000 square feet of office space, in addition to a parking garage and ground-level commercial space.

Gensler is designing the mid-rise tower, which has gradually been pared down from the larger 18-story building originally proposed by HPP in 2014.  All iterations of the design have imagined stepped building heights approaching the northern side of the project site, creating terrace decks and a transition towards an adjacent residential neighborhood.

In addition to Epic, HPP is now wrapping up a $150-million expansion of the adjacent Sunset Bronson Studios, highlighted by a 14-story office tower that is now leased by Netflix.  A similar expansion is planned for Sunset Gower Studios, located just west along Sunset Boulevard.
