Since our last update in early 2018, construction on the 35-story Perla development has made great headway. The concrete frame has risen to almost half of its final height, with work currently taking place on the thinner, setback portion of the tower.

SCG America is developing the project, which features 450 for-sale condominium units above 7,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space and a parking garage. A mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom units will range between 400 and 1,300 square feet in size, with prices starting in the high $400,000s going up to $1.5 million. Over 400,000 square feet of amenity space will include a four-story inner atrium, a fitness center, a pool terrace, and a rooftop deck.

The tower is being designed by CallisonRTKL, who blended historic architectural influences with a modern design to help the building blend with the neighborhood's surrounding character. The interiors will be designed in an Art Deco fashion by Hirsh Bender Associates. The open space amenities are being designed by landscape architecture firm Studio MLA

Swinerton is the project's general contractor.

Perla is one of the first high-rise developments to rise within downtown's Historic Core in over 100 years. It is expected to be completed by 2020.
