Los Angeles-based developer Urban Commons is planning a mixed-use senior care facility on the southwestern fringe of Koreatown.

The project, which was filed yesterday with the City of Los Angeles, would consist of a seven-story building featuring 146 senior housing units - including 24 memory care untis and 122 assisted living units - above 11,500 square feet of commercial space for use by a doctor's office or a retail establishment.  The subject property is currently improved with a one-story restaurant and an adjoining parking lot, both of which would need to be demolished for the proposed development.

Urban Commons is no stranger to Koreatown, with a 10-story hotel and residential complex now in the works at 6th and Harvard Streets.

The development site is located three blocks from Western Avenue, where a market rate apartment building is now rising adjacent to the Koreatown Galleria.
