The project, located on a corner lot at Walnut and El Molino Avenue, is being developed by Pasadena-based real estate investment firm Prominent Development, which acquired the property for $11 million in 2016.  Approved plans call for a six-story building featuring 115 residential units and 14,000 square feet of retail space above a subterranean parking garage.

Tyler + Kelly Architecture is designing the MW Lofts, which will greet Walnut Street with a 250-foot pedestrian arcade.  The contemporary low-rise structure will also include a large rooftop amenity deck.

The project follows several mixed-use buildings recently constructed along Walnut Street, including two apartment buildings completed by Greystar.

To the west at Fair Oaks Boulevard, 400 apartments are now under construction as part of the 100 West Walnut development.

To the east, another housing project designed by Tyler + Kelly is planned at Walnut and Hudson Avenue.
