Just three years after opening, an expansion is planned for the Stella Marina del Rey Apartments.

The existing complex, located at 13488 W. Maxella Avenue, features 244 luxury apartments above ground-floor retail and restaurant place.  According to plans submitted to the City of Los Angeles, the expansion would create an additional 65 residential units in a six-story structure.

The project would require discretionary approvals by the City, including a zone change.  Further details, such as a timeline and budget for the project, are currently unclear.

Earlier this week, plans were announced for a similar mixed-use development on the shopping center located immediately east of Stella.  That project, which spans across 6.8 acres, would create 658 apartments and 27,300 square feet of retail space.
